Cardiocrinum Giganteum

aka The ‘Giant Himalayan Lily’ is a truly wonderful plant. It takes around 5-7 years to grow, before flowering once and then dying. They can grow to a height of around 3 metres or more. Why am I telling you this? Because they are coming into flower this week at Attadale Gardens. They have planted some in successive years, so that every year now there is the opportunity of appreciating this rare plant.

Perched precariously atop a step ladder, amidst light rain showers, the plant still towers above me.
Im using off camera flash as the main light source here and it has worked a treat

Click on images for larger sizes. These images are from last years plants. Hopefully this years will be equally as impressive.
